From the understated elegance of its pillared front porch to the easy comfort of its spacious, lattice-roofed rear deck, Adleigh House is a Victorian beauty you'll want to visit time and time again.

The main house was constructed circa 1880 and remained in the Miller family until the 1960's. Your hosts, Bette and Adde Walker, took ownership in spring, 2003. They have preserved the many architectural features of the house, but have added an innovative air conditioning system to make your stay as pleasant as possible.

Adde fell in love with the house as soon as he stepped through the front door into the foyer. With its cathedral ceiling and grand staircase, this gracious entrance epitomizes both the warmth and the spaciousness of the home. Off to the left is the parlour, where guests are invited to sit and relax around the original, working fireplace (c. 1880).

The library encourages guests to curl up on the sofa and read, listen to music or play a game of chess. The working fireplace (c. 1880) contains the original iron inset firebox. The formal dining room is dominated by a striking Chinese screen and brass chandelier. Surrounded by quiet beauty, guests enjoy a delicious, candle-lit gourmet breakfast.

Steps away from the dining room is the bright and spacious kitchen where Bette and Adde create such tempting fare as frittata, breakfast pizza and a wide variety of egg dishes. (You've got to try his breakfast bread!) Guests who prefer can eat their meal out on the large back deck where they can take in the peaceful view of a garden oasis set up on the lawn for congenial get-togethers.
